new skillzzzz!!!

OKAY!!! I'm so so so excited. I recently joined a new facebook group for photographers created by the awesome Jessica Vickers, and that's where this story starts. I had seen on there a couple of times about the talk of "frequency separation." I'm like what the heck is frequency separation!!!!!!!!!

SO, I look it up and it's a way of editing (this might sound confusing) where you separate texture and color (kinda). Long story short it's a cool way to edit textures without losing detail (for example; skin!)

Whereas I usually use a brush tool on Lightroom and clone out unwanted blemishes, with frequency separation on Photoshop I can blur out unwanted things and STILL keep the texture/detail of the skin. I found this perfect step by step instructional video that I followed along -->>click here

After that video I followed Jessica Vicker's eye tutorial -->>click here

Keep in mind, this was a little weird for me because I'm not a Photoshop guru. I only started using it this summer for BASIC BASIC editing, such as color correcting, cropping, etc. However, these videos were super easy for me to follow along and got me out of the comfort of Lightroom!!!!

Here is the progression of my edits!!

ISO: 100
Aperture: 1.8
Shutter: 1/3200

Long story short, I would say that frequency separation is definitely something that other's should take the time to learn. Even though this was my first time doing it I would say it's fairly simple and although I may not heavy edit like this every time, it will definitely not be the last time I use this editing technique.
