Becoming a Photoshop Master!!! jk
Okay, so we have a watermelon festival coming up in Naples, Texas and we needed a picture for the accent page so that we could write about it. Apparently, we (the gazette) haven't been to the festival in a while. So, we almost thought we would have to take a picture of someone selling a watermelon on Stateline (they're everywhere) but we found some archived photos from 2014.
I was assigned the task of picking a photo from 2014 for the paper. As I was looking through I decided on this photo.

However, I noticed that the color balance, etc was a bit off. So I asked if I could re edit it. Now, keep in mind that at the Gazette we use ~photoshop~ which is something I wasn't too familiar with. (I'm a Lightroom kind of girl). But--- I gave it a whirl and re -edited it.
First, I messed with the color balance to take some of the orange/yellow out of there and from there I fixed some exposure and worked on the outer edge of the watermelon so it wouldn't be as blown out. I kept some of the warmth because it's summer aka sunny so it's fine. In general I think it turned out okay and I'm excited that I know editing on more than one software. :)
