Head Shots

ISO: 400 Aperture: f/4.0 Shutter Speed: 1/400

Today we did head shots. On Monday, we also did head shots, but I didn't really learn the techniques that Mr. Smith was trying to teach me. Today, I focused more on making the background blurry using my aperture. Everyone else was using bricks as their backgrounds, but I didn't want to be like everyone else so I decided to go around where the stairs were, to where a dark brown door was. At first, I failed miserably because I didn't take the picture to flatter Travis. I had a very boring angle and I shot him straight on. So the next times I had angled him to my left away from me and let him towards his face to me. Also to get a flattering angle, I shot from above his head going down. I also had some trouble with spinning the little wheel on the camera so it was taking me forever to move the shutter speed to my needs. Overall I think is a good picture so yay! Next time, to make things easier, I will use angles to create more depth, think of better ways to create a better background and explore areas that will help me create a more unique picture.

Okay, so this was one of the first pictures I shot. I didn't realize how bad it was until I brought it back to Mr. Smith. In this picture, I shot Travis square on and directly at him. What I should've done is down at him from an angle to flatter him and made him turn so his shoulders were directly towards me. I think the back ground looks okay though, except for the fact that I left too much empty space at the top.

Once again, I shot him straight on and at a bad angle. Plus, I have random lines in the background which are distracting.

Wow. This one is really really really bad. It was more like a test shot because the little wheel wouldn't work but I quickly realized that the exposure was off. At least he's at an angle I guess.
